  • Having removed the majority of weeds / roots from the garden I am concerned about manure bringing in new weeds.

There is a local farm selling rotted manure ??1 a bag, is this likely to result in new weed growth?
  • I have dug over the plot with a fork and spade removing roots as I go but does anyone have any advice on telling ivy roots from tree roots as I would prefer not to harm my tree.

Depth is 6" in a horizontal direction.
  • Make sure manure is well rotted, I didn't and what a mess grass growing everywhere, same with mushroom compost, although I did get a few free breakfasts out of it. We are lucky,a nearby sugar beet factory gives away topsoil washed of the beet!
