ph levels

hi my ph of my soil is 7.5 can i use ericaceous compost to lower it to 6.5 cheers chaps

    That will work but might be impractical for a large area and soil will generally revert to its natural pH over time, so regular mulching with more EC would be necessary.  It's not far off neutral, so most plants would be ok but if you want to grow acid lovers (eg blueberries) then containers or raised beds with EC are the best bet I find.

    A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  •  i like to grow onions and other veg i have recently added seaweed to the soil will that lower the ph as well or should i still apply sulphur powder

    I sprinkled a bit of lime on my cabbage patch, still eating them now and lots in the freezer.

    Agree Edd, my dad has never used one.

    Do you still do the bare bot test to see when the soil is warm enough for planting.
