pruning gooseberries

i have a huge gooseberry bush which needs pruning. I cut back the side shoots last June by six inches and had a good harvest. However it is really much too big. Is it too late to prune now without losing next years crop?

Stuctural pruning is best done in winter and although it will limit next years crop it is much better to have a well formed bush and it will soon recover and be a nice shape.
