A couple of plant idents, please

LoxleyLoxley Posts: 5,543

A couple of plant idents from Bristol Botanical Garden. The first one is a familiar plant to me but embarrassingly I am not sure what it is! Some sort of Viburnum? The second one, I have no idea!

I hope BBG get their plant labelling sorted out next year!

Top one looks a bit like my Acer - only yours is healthier.

  • Top one is viburnum bodnantense

  • Bottom one is lobelia laxiflora

Cheers! I forgot to mention, the Viburnum pic was back in august... does x bodnantense colour up so early?

  • That photo doesn't look anything like my V. bodnantense at any time of year - wish it did!

  • I've got the 'dawn' variety, it sometimes goes red early if it gets stressed from drought.

  • on zooming in, it could be viburnum farreri? image Too many viburnums!

Thanks chaps. Yep, there are way too many viburnums... it would be possible to have an 'all-viburnum' planting scheme I reckon...
