plant invasion

Hi,  I noticed a plant groing up through my cooker hob.  my partner took out the oven so we could see what was going on. there was lots of long white strands the seem to be coming from between the back of the cupboard and the wall.  There is no air brick located this side of the kitchen and their not coming from the other side.  What could this be?????

A photo would help a lot.

However, google "horsetail" - that's one of the few that I can think of that will get through obstacles.

Are you in a new build house?

Photo of planr and leaves would help a lot

  • more than likely some seeds from your cooking have got inside your hob and decided its the right environment.but it could be bind weed which grows anywhere,or have you accidentally let some bird seed drop inside the hob,a mystery.image

Or, worse case scenario, it could even be Dry rot. That produces long white filaments which spread everywhere.

are there any green bits? Hope so, it won't be dry rot if there are. Bindweed will do that as flowering rose says and aso will ivy.

Ivy on the outside of a house is capable of penetrating brickwork. Is there ivy on the outside wall.
