Sweet corn

The Kernels on my sweet corn are still white although the tassles are dark brown. Will they turn yellow if left longer or has the lack of sunshine during the summer stopped them ripening. Does them being white stop them tasting sweet.?

Not all sweetcorn turns the typical yellow. Try squeezing one of the kernels with a fingernail. If the liquid inside is a milky colour, it's harvest time. If it's still watery, you're going to have to wait and hope for more warmth.
Pick one if you are unsure. Rush it to the microwave, cook for 4 minutes after taking some of the leaves off, but not all. Strip off the remaining leaves and silk, slather with butter and salt and try!
Thank you both for your replies. Your cooking suggestion sounds good to me Welshonion.
