Rhubarb

I have been given a rhubarb root, Whens the best time to plant it , and will it grow in a raised bed, filled with a good quality compost

    Hi Richard, if you go to the RHS the info is really easy to follow ,just one thing is after you have planted its a good idea to leave the first years crop to die back into the crown to give it a better start and rhubarb loves the cold it comes from Siberia originally,raised beds are great and if your near the coast surround the crowns with seaweed as slugs and snails love to dine out on them but dont like seaweed,if not them maybe pellets will do   Good luck Rich,,

    And when you plant it, don't plant it deep. Leave the little black crusty bits above the soil.

    Apophthegm -  a big word for a small thought.
