Tree bands
in Fruit & veg
Does anyone have any thoughts on using tree bands or is grease better. I've been using bands for a couple of years but I still get a lot of ants on the trees, I suppose they can creep under the paper. Your opinions would be welcome, thanks

I used Petroleum jelly for the first time ,it seems to work but it has melted from a 2 inch band to a 6 inch grease band with no actual materiel at all just jelly, hope it works better than it looks,
I'm experimenting this year. Some trees I'm using grease tree bands and some just the grease. I'v used grease bands in the past and it seemed to work.
maggie 1..ensure you tie the string tightly round the bands..both top and bottom. Also if the tree is supported by a bamboo cane, ensure the cane has tree bands/grease as well.
Thanks for all the comments. The big problem of course is the fact that the bark is very uneven, impossible to stop any gaps............. Just got it, duh, use petroleum jelly, THEN grease bands, that will stop any gaps. Simple really, just need input from other people to make me think. Does anyone think that will work?
