Roses in Winter

I have some roses in pots on my balcony. How should I protect them over winter? Thanks for your help!

I would shorten the roses themselves by one third, to help prevent them being wind-rocked, and I would wrap the pots (not the plants) in a few layers of bubblewrap to protect the pots (and the roots) from frost. Apart from that they should be fine
