There´s this red pink with a lovely scent, unlike all other pinks I´ve had, but
instead of the expected carnation perfume, this one smells like a pansy! Am
I baffled about pink scent, or is the pink baffled itself?
It's not unusual for pinks of unusual colours to lack the normal heady scent; it's been lost during the breeding to get the colour.
Unless the plant is sold as heavily scented, you have no guarantee that it will be.
Thanks, Alina. In fact, I was surprised by the scent, since NONE of my other pinks
have any at all (including the usual pink ones...).
The leaves don't look very pink like either.
I bought a packet from Benary saying it was Dianthus plumarius, but the
plant is obviously Dianthus chinensis (or so I think).
