LOW MAINTENANCE MEDIUM SIZED FLOWERING SHRUB

Can anyone offer suggestions for a low maintenance medium sized flowering shrub please.  I don't want it to spread too much but would like it to flower in the summer and not require much maintenance. Thank you.

Hebes. Some can get quite big, but you can prune them back to a better size. However, better to plant one of the smaller varieties in the first place. They will flower all summer long & can be smothered in bees. Their foliage is evergeen. They wont appreciate a frost pocket in the North of UK, but otherwise trouble free. J.

So much depends on where you're going to plant it, soil type, sun, shade, coastal, windy etc etc etc, but all things being equal I'd suggest one of these http://www.crocus.co.uk/plants/_/shrubs/mediterranean-plants/classid.848/

They come in other colours too.
