Do you watch family fortunes? I can hear that honk noise when 'the survey said....X' !

I'll nip them out anyway.... And start again with some fresh ones! Take two!

Sorry about that, Tootles.....sometimes it's difficult to say it how it is, but if I didn't this would all be a bit pointless.

Btw, I would suggest your pots are not deep enough and pale colour suggests lack of light. Also if you have used multipurpose compost, would account  to some extent for the excess growth.

Thanks David. I think it's a trip to the garden centre for me then! And then perhaps a coffee and slice of cake whilst there (I don't need much tempting!).

Please don't incur additional expense on my account, Tootles.....some may disagree with me.

I doubt it David. You are a sweet pea guru! Really grateful for the advice. Thanks ever so much.

  • You're very generous, Tootles......this is the tinternet however, where everything needs to be treated with caution. Having said that, I suppose I have done this stuff for some time and peeps have had success.

  • Tootles nice to treat yourself to cake when you go the gc

David K your sweet peas looked fab for planting out in March - another Q when you plant out your sweet peas do you add multi purpose compost to the area?

Thanks for the info growing just for cut flowers, cold frame all as bits of wood at min, will get there and I will put the sweet peas out in it to germinate

  • I think I already know the answer to this, but I wanted to ask anyway image
Is there such a thing as a Mildew Resistant Variety?

For the past 2 years my Sweet Peas have succumbed to Powdery Mildew no matter what I did and tried, I had 3 different varieties and they were located in various places around my garden but I ended up having to get rid of all of my plants at the start of July due to the problem :O
I really don't want to repeat this next year as they are one of my favourite plants so if anyone could recommend some varieties I'd be ever so grateful.

  • Mine had that too but so did so many other plants think it could of been the weather for it
