Need help identifying plant please

Hi All,

 

I just moved into a house and its the first time I have my own garden, there aren't many plants in the garden but I'm struggling to figure out what this one is. Can anybody help?

I think it might be a broom, proper name Cytisus...

Don't worry about which forum to put it on - we find most queries. 

Just a word of warning about broom - it really doesn't like being cut back very hard - see an earlier discussion here http://www.gardenersworld.com/forum/plants/pruning-a-broom/2978.html

I cut mine back by about one third after flowering each year. It is ok with that

Thank you guys! I will leave them as they are for now and give them a trim once they've flowered next year.

Interested to see what colour flowers they will have.
