Hi there, can anyone advise whether it is best to leave grass a little longer in the winter months, or is it best to give it a good trim before the cold weather sets in. I only have a little push mower and it has beeen extremely wet these last few weeks in Norfolk, so I haven't been able to give it a good cut just lately, so it is quite long.Should I just leave it or try to get the mower on it for final cut.

If you can raise the blades on the mower- fine-if you can't don't-"a good trim" is not what is needed at this time of year- especially if wet.

It will do more harm than good-best leave it if you can live with it

And keep off it if you can or you might have a mud patch like mine.

Wet grass is more difficult to cut than dry grass, because it clogs up the mower. This is true for both power mowers and push mowers. But it's more evident when using a push mower.

Depending on Winter temperatures, grass may continue to grow through the Winter. You do want to avoid the grass becoming so long that it becomes uncuttable.

You may find a strimmer useful for keeping control of wet grass.
