Spikey seed pod

A strange plant has been growing in a plant pot in our garden which is filled with sand and is used as an ash tray when visitors visit. Please does any body know what it could be?

  • Thank you, had looked at this but just needed a second set of eyes to confirm

  • interesting that it's related to tobacco considering the plant pots use!

  • Alan, given the hallucenogenic qualities of the datura perfume it's probably just as well your establishment didn't have them on the windowsill image

  • We had a party in the summer so to save the patio this large pot ( what ever usually is planted in there dies) was filled to save sweeping up fag buts. We did think it was related to a tobacco plant as the leaves are very plyable and stretchy. Now seeing as it says to burn the plant as it has produced seed pods to stop it spreading do we have to let it dry out first? As won't this make it more potent when neighbours can smell it?
