Disappearing Pansies
Help... I have grown some winter pansies from seeds and out of 20 plants I now have 3 left. Thought it was slugs and despite slug pellets and daily slug/snail forages was horrified to see groups of leaves under my trays. My husband thinks it might be mice using the leaves in nests. The leaves have all disappeared. All of my other young plants have slender leaves (wallflowers and lupins) so may not be cosy nest material. Any ideas?

I have had pansies attacked by birds in the past, they ate all the flowers
they were doing it before I got up so it took a while for me to realise what was going on.
If it's a clean 'snip' then mice are a likely culprit. Should be time enough to get some more sown? J.
Thanks for the prompt replies. It shouldn't be birds as they were in a homemade cold frame comprising of breeze block surround with a wooden frame 'lid' with mesh greenhouse shading to keep birds off. I did leave some ventilation gaps to let a breeze through. With a bit of a re jig this afternoon there are now no gaps and the poor old pansies are outside the cold frame
Hopefully if they are easy to get to then the other stuff will be ignored.
