Saw this growing in a meadow in Scotland, it had a beautiful scent, anyone know what it is?

It's meadowsweet (filipendula ulmaria), which grows in damp meadows and on rural roadsides. I agree, a lovely scent.

Oh, I didn't think it was Meadowsweet as it was pink and not as fluffy. Will check it out, thanks.

  • Is it Valerian?

It wasn't the usual flower shape of the Valerian but more flat headed like Cow Parsley

    What were the leaves like?

The leaf is the one in the picture behind the flower.

I found it on a Scottish blog so am assuming it's the right ID. Common Valerian. I never knew there were different types of this plant, apart from the white variety. Still learning after all these years image
