I've cut back my st John's wort and found an hedgehog in the undergrowth.is it too early for hibernation.?
I think so, it would be a very long winter if they went to bed now
CGFixit..........an adult or a youngster ? Active or not ? Too early for a healthy hog to be settling in for winter
Looked like an adult,he wasn't in a ball but I could see he was breathing .I covered him over with what I'd cut off.
This spring I was tackling a border of 2ft high grass , found a mound of grass .on inspection it was a sleeping hedgehog .that one luckily I could leave him with a good surround of the thick high grass .
So hopefully this one is just snoozing.
He was probably snoozing as you say Grandma and when he wakes up this evening he will be rummaging around in your garden for some tasty slugs.
He won't be disappointed!
Thank you to everyone, I was a bit worried when I found him.
