Hi Kelly, I started a thread asking exactly the same. If I can find it Ill bump it up for you.
HI guys, did you find any good software to recommend? I am after the same thing.
Have a look at smallblueprinter, its free for the first few days which gave me just enough time to design my garden.

If you don't want to pay for the full package then first sketch/design your garden on paper and when your happy download the software. This way you will be able to allow time to get your head around how it works, and complete your plan before the free version expires.
Heres the design I did for my garden using smallblueprinter
hey guys,
Hate to disappoint you LeadFermer, but I tried the smallblueprint software and I almost killed my garden. It is true that am not such a talented person though.
But, in order to clean up the mess I made, I had to call for professional help from a maintenance company (http://ascentps.co.uk) who actually saved my garden for a fair price.
As for next time I will decide to try my skills, I will take some classes first. Not everyone is able to pull this thing off, but there might be a hope with Google SketchUp that is free and easy to use.
I do mine the old fashioned way - paper and pencil! The important thing is to measure your garden properly. Most people assume what size and shape their plot is, and get a fright when they try to fit in the things they want.
Learn how to triangulate (it's not hard) then measure up properly, and - most importantly - make sure it's to scale before doing anything else!
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I must indeed.
Hey,
try growveg.com its free for 30days then you need to pay for subscription
It does more than just veg, has loads of buildings as well that allows you to add sheds etc.
enjoy!
Thanks!
I have used auto cad a few years back at my parents house for my room.....incredible, it didn't even cross my mind.
Great advice many thanks will take a look at the things you have all suggested.
