.... but should I invite it in and offer it a drink it or give it the elbow?
It's in the border at the front between me and my neighbour which was completely full of a rather dull flower I've spent all summer trying to eradicate. It looked pretty for 2 days then flopped everywhere. It had roots heading for the antipodes and I can do without another thug!

A type of amaranth I think.
Reddish leaves underside and then red tassels later.
I had Amaranthus hypochondriacus (really) last year , and its seeded all over.
I googled and hmm - having just got rid of a lot of unwanted plant life I might just show it the door. Thank you very much.
The birds like the seed heads.
But I'm not sure I do if they spread everywhere. No doubt a bird accidentally imported it in the first place
