home made plant supports

Can anyone remember the plant supports that Monty Don made with metal rods? It was on a GW programme and may have been a couple of years ago now. He bent the rods using a wooden board as a lever but I cannot for the life of me remember how he did it. Can anyone help please?

Oh yes those plant supports are excellent.

I wasn't sure where to get the iron poles from, so we made them out of copper tubing from Wickes, rather more expensive than I wanted but they still look lovely years later.

Marvellous! I've been looking for this for ages,  and we really need them this year. Thanks!

  • I'm liking the copper tubing idea, but what diameter did you use and how did you stop it just folding when you bent it rather than it forming lovely curves?

  • Steve, I think you'd need to use a plumber's pipe-bending spring to stop a copper pipe from folding when you bend it.
