What is this bush with berries?

Dear Forum Members,

I have a few of these in the garden but I don't know what it is called, so if you can name it, that would be great.

Also, I am really only interested in whether or not the berries are edible. Please advise.

And by the way, if this is the last time I post on this forum, then you were wrong about the berries.

  • Thank you to the both of you.

Indeed I shall steer clear, and I believe it is the best policy to steer clear from eating anything growing in the garden unless one is absolutely sure that something is edible (ie. no roulette or experimenting!)

Although, I clearly did not have this policy as a child because I clearly remember standing in the lovely garden where I grew up, possibly at 3 or 4 years old, eating the middles of big daisies (Michaelmas?) and I remember that they tasted revolting enough never to do it again. I remember the taste as well -nasty! As it happens, I lived to tell the tale. We had laburnum in the garden also, but I was warned about laburnum.

Thank you again for your advice.
