Most bottle brush plants are not winter-hardy in the UK and need to be over-wintered in a frost-free conservatory or heated greenhouse.  Sometimes people are lucky and manage to get them through the winter by wrapping them in fleece, but a particularly hard winter will sometimes get them even then.
