wayward wisteria

Inherited large wisteria on our latest house.  Followed advice with first prune in February and successful with some flowers, down low.   Now out of hand and entering house rather alarmingly!  Books say prune in August.   Can I do it now and not forfeit blossoms next year, please?

This year has been early in many ways - if it's getting totally out of hand I'd go ahead and prune it now - really good video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngMaxw4a2ME which makes it very clear.

Gardening is cheaper than therapy, and you get tomatoes.

Did mine yesterday!  Prune away.  I often have to prune again later in summer cos it grows away again so fast.

I pruned mine twice last year and alas this year no flowers and no runners/ shooting growth either!!!

  • Will have a bash - thanks Dove and Rosie.   Stacey - that is the result I am afraid of!
