best site for a greenhouse
I want to put a greenhouse on a south, south west wall. I thought this might be too hot. What does everyone think?
Thanks

Greenhouses need the maximum amount of sunshine. That situation seems ideal.
On a sunny day at the height of Summer (on the rare occasions that this happens) a greenhouse can become hot. The solution is to open the ventilation, and if necessary, put up some shading.
Sonds good to me. My greenhouse is east to west so gets the sun all day. I have automatic openers on the windows in the roof which has saved my plants many days when ive forgotten to open the door. Bit more expensive but well worth it.
Thanks Gary and Maud
My husband and I have created a kitchen garden, sounds grand doesn't it! We have three raised beds, 2m x 1m and on one side we have the wall of the garage on which I am thinking of putting a greenhouse. We have spent a lot on the area so will probably only go for a 'plastic' greenhouse. I think after your comments I will plant it up with a cucumber or peppers.
As it's almost an extension of the house, and presumably a long-term investment, I'd go for glass, I wonder what others think.... plastic or glass?
I have used toughened glass as im a bit lethal around anything breakable. So far so good.Managed to fall backwards into a greenhouse many years ago. Only got cut elbows so was very lucky. Go for the best you can afford, and most of all enjoy your greenhouse and garden. Good grief im sounding like Alan Titchmarsh
