Hedgerow coming up in lawn
Our garden has a hedgerow running the length of back perimeter. We have lived here for 15 years. The house was brand new when we moved in and we had lawn laid. We have what appears to be shoots of hedgerow suddenly popping up randomly around the lawn and are not sure what to do about it. Im concerned this could be come a big problem if not dealt with swiftly. Any ideas please?

Blackthorn, alder, wild cherry and assorted plummy things will all do that.
I just mow them as WO says but I have grass, it wouldn't do for a first class lawn.
I have a feeling that there is no way to prevent that, it's what they do.

Thank you for your help.
Dear Baines, This is a problem I'm experiencing... did just mowing shoots keep it at bay or did you find a better alternative? Thanks, Rik
I don't think you're likely to get an answer from Baines. They posted just twice, in July 2014. I don't think they're very active on the site.
Plants of the plum family always do this. As nutcutlet says, "It's what they do". Mowing really is the only solution, and it works.
