But I agree with Magpie on the item being more stylish than practical. I don't think the birds mind too much what thing looks like, as long as it's not empty.

This was my first time on the forum and I have really gained so much information. Thank you all for your help. Apart from the small feeders I have a "feeding station" as they call it - which I used to move around on account of seed spillage. I now don't bother as I was running out of spots to move it to and was getting bald patches in the lawn. I have built a kind of rockery with large stones at the base of the feeding station and don't worry about the grass. I also use a large mesh tray for the ground feeders. I have a good selection of visitors to my little gardern including quite recently a female blackcap (according to my bird guide). Once again thank you all.

I'm wondering how easy to clean the 'tornado' feeder is? You'll have to let us know LeadFarmer! I find that the goldfinches hog the sunflower hearts and only deign to eat the nyger when the sunflower seeds are gone. I liked the idea of baking trays on the bottom of the feeders though. I bought a couple of feeders last year with round plastic trays on but found that the smaller birds wouldn't use the bottom feeder holes as it was too far to reach from the edge and they didn't like standing on the base of the tray. The starlings just emptied the mixed seed out to get at what they wanted (fat pellets in the mix) so in about 10 minutes all the seed was in the tray....not good!

The Nature's Feast Twist Feeder is very easy to clean and refill as it has a removal lid and 6 feeding ports. The Twist Feeder has metal components (lid, base and ports), and only the body of the feeder is plastic.

Well the birds are loving the Typhoon feeder, ive had Goldfinches, tits & sparrows queueing up to use it...
And here's a baby Goldfinch thats been sitting at the feeder for the last 10 minutes...
The Wood Pigeons and magpies have had a try, but they cant get a perch on it - thankfully.
Hows it compare with your other feeders, same seed same number of birds? or is it a score well spent,
