Hi Sue, It sounds like some of the roots were damaged when the wind blew it over. If there are a lot of branches and leaves, I would prune it when you re-stake it, so that the remaining undamaged roots aren't put under excessive strain by trying to provide food and water for the whole existing canopy. As it is young, it should recover and grow new roots. Think of it as if you had transplanted it, which would necessarily involve cutting through some of the roots. Once re-staked, keep it well watered just as you would with a freshly planted tree.
