It's June and I need to know if I can relocate the Photina to another area of the garden without harming it. I would be grateful for our advice. Thankyou

  • I would advise NOT at this time of year. However, if it has to be done, building work, restructuring etc, then a real good soaking, a few times for the next several days, then lift with as large a rootball as possible and relocate. Then, another real soaking. Better time would be October/November in a mild damp spell. Evergreens can be moved in spring, too, but such is the energy required when new growth is put on, and such is a drain on the plant's reserves, that is has to have all of its roots intact, so with a photinia, which is perfectly hardy, autumn's best.
