  • Starting a brand new garden is fine, taking on a old one which bears no relation to what you might want is a whole other kettle of fish. Ah well better get back to the chopping, lugging and digging.

Yes, there are a lot of factors to bear in mind, when creating a new garden, or even moulding an existing one to your own tastes.

I'm always interested in new books, so I thought I'd check this one out.

All I could discover on Amazon UK was the price - £2. So don't expect the RHS Encyclopedia. I then tried to look elsewhere...

I Googled and the first thing I saw was that Alys Fowler seems to be a fan of this book. Wow!

Well, not exactly. But an exactly worded message "I just read a great eBook on Starting a New Garden By Nick Brennan - some great tips" has been posted on one her pages at the Guardian. It's on this page (9th comment):

    Alys Fowler The Gurdian

And the same comment is also on a recent page in the gardening column at the Huffington Post:

    Huffington Post Guarian Column

    And it's at EHow:

    EHow Basic Gardening Techinques

There is a review on Amazon US. Not surprisingly, the reviewer gives the book 5 stars, and gives us this very helpful taster:

"The health benefits of creating a garden cannot be ignored either as you not only get your dose of vitamin D but also get some well needed exercise (especially those who are not that active anymore). Brennan also describes gardening as a way to relieve stress. All in all it is very concise and full of pertinent information. It is a must have guide if you want to start or revamp the garden. Book going for a great price as well!"

And there are lots more posts on other pages. I was getting the picture at this point and gave up further research.

But I'm all for enterprise, and innovation, and this does demonstate how easy it is for anyone to write a book, and get it published, and advertised, at virtually no cost.
