I have grown lupins from seed for the first time this year. I have healthy plants about 6 inches high which have now been planted in the garden. Will they flower this year or will I have to wait till next year?
Best to cut any flower spikes off and let the plants get stronger tbh. You might get one or two flowers from a whole packet but they will be small and a severe drain on the young plant. Make sure you have slug pellets down. Strangely slugs don't seem too bothered with lupin seedlings, but just LOVE larger ones and will eat the entire plant!
As previous replies have said, they are likely to flower, but it really is best to remove this years flowers, if you have the patience and you`ll get even stronger plants and flowers next year.

Sorry, it is very unlikely that you will get flowers this year.

Good luck.
