I would like to cultivate moss instead of grass in lawn and promote wildflowers. should i feed moss. Ideas pls.

If you want to grow moss and wildflowers you are going to have to reverse what most gardeners want and that is create poor soil-it has been known for some to remove top soil to achieve these conditions.
It is a lot of work but I know some posters on here have created a wildflower patch-hopefully one will pick this up and relate their experiences.
try putting down slabs or crazy paving, and wait for it to be colonised. Some types of moss like boggy conditions, you might be better off asking at the local library if they've got anything about moss! Then at least you'll know what type of conditions you need to create for the moss to move in. I wouldn't bother looking on t'internet, you'll get lots of different opinions, probably most of them conflicting.
Poor, wet, ill-drained soil. You will not find it easy to combine these conditions with a wild flower meadow. One or the other.
damp and shade for the moss....my lawn is about 40% moss and in those areas violets and fox and cubs thrive. You'll need to find the right wildflowers for those conditions (perhaps ragged robin and native ferns too), mine just appeared!
Thank you. Still considering moss but also, an alternative such canomile or a low growing thyme.
