Hi all,has anyone grown purple fountain grass from seed please, if so how is it done please, as im struggling again.

Two things to consider

Pennisetum setaceum 'Rubrum' is a cultivar of something not so purple and may not seed reliably purple

and

It's a bit late to start them and expect much this year

Agreewith Nut, too late in year. Start next Spring, with heat, they are not hardy. When they are large enough to go outside, remember to bring them back in, during Autumn.They will not survive in a cold greenhouse [ in Sheffield anyway ], so either indoors, or a heated greenhouse.
