We are having a similar problem and some of the garden trees are dying as well. There seem to be othre trees in the neighbourhood (Bromley, Kent) that are affected.
Same started summer last year for me, with my 3m long privet hedge, Essex. Sudden black leaved patch appeared, localised, after a routine pruning, but is gradually spreading, with leaves dropping off. Any clue whats causing or how to save it?

That's all dead Gareth but doesn't give any clue about why.
Are there any parts going down at the moment or that are showing signs of going.?

mine has died completely and so has my witch hazel,lilac and now the Hawthorn looks sick.

I'd open another thread with your problem Roger. Add a couple of photos and see what people come up with.

we have same problem as above .is getting rid of the hedge the only solution please
Please could you help us???cut our hedge 2weeks ago &it's starting to die in patches!Think it's a fungus called wilt???? Any suggestions?
