planting in shade?

Im pretty new to gardening and have a large shaded area in the corner of my garden i would like to fill with plants and shrubs but no idea what to get that will grow in the shade Ps the area does get some sunlight but only up to about 2 - 3 hours early morning Thanks..

    You might get a rose to survive, you would have to be pretty careful what you choose, ive found mirrors etc to reflect any light really help.

    You can always go for hostas, ferns, foxgloves and all the other usual suspects, but what sort of thing do you like? Jungle plants can work well.

    What sort of soil do you have, is it a dry spot? image

    Its pretty dry yeah, as for what i like i honestly couldnt say this is my first house so im new to the whole garden thing, id like a bit of colour in there so its nice for my daughter when shes a bit older image hopefully il start getting the hang of things

    There is no rush, pop out and get a few busy lizzies, or whatever they are called now! They will grow quite happily in shade, and give you lots of colour this year, in the mean time, get a few plant brochures, post what you like the look of and we will help you make something more permenent for next year image

    Gardening is dead easy, it just takes time to retain all the little things you learn along the way, ive been at it all my life and am still learning! Start with simple things, that will give you confidence to keep going image
