Mystery unruly rose

pootlerpootler Posts: 95

I have inherited a rose bush, I think it is really pretty but I am not sure what to do with it.  It is at the front of the border and is quite floppy!  I wonder if it is actually a climber but I don't know how to tell the difference.

I have randomly stuck a bamboo pole in the middle of it to try and control it a little. Does anyone recognise it and/or can advise me how to improve how it looks.

It's probably a shrub rose although which one I have no idea.

    Looks very rosy to meimage

I've got one that flops, Charles de Mills. I'm going to get OH to build me a metal spiral for it to grow through

  • It looks a bit like Golden Celebration, one of the David Austin roses. It might have grown a bit floppy this year as we have had perfect growing weather - damp and warm!  And the weight of those flowers must pull the stems down a lot - how beautiful it is!

I agree with Potsandpansies .  Golden Celebrations has lovely perfume but the weight of the flower heads on thin stems causes them to flop

What a beauty! Why not send a pic to David Austin roses, they have always been so helpful with me. Better still, visit them, the tea room is lovely! image
