Ants - again!

I had been waiting patiently for the best occasion to use my two bags of beautiful home-made compost.   In my small raised raised bed, perhaps, or in the large pots waiting for my courgettes and tromboncinos?   WOE IS ME -the bags are full of ants. What can I do?

Usually a sign that the compost is too dry-give it a good drenching.

It is pretty wet already, but wet or not, it would be difficult not to dump a load of them into my pots.  A difficult exercise to separate them?

Then they have probably built a nest in there-if you want rid you are going to need a proprietary ant killer-not much else you can do

A few years back I had ants nesting in my compost. I poured boiling hot water on to it - they never came back !!! lol
