I bought some of this cheaply today. However having looked it up when I got home found that it is considered invasive. How invasive? Could I put it in a sunken pot or would roots escape through the holes? if I pot it do the seeds spread? Alternatively if it will put up with shade I've a woodland area it could do whatever it wants to! Would shade do?
I've moist clay soil.

Supernoodle, it is a very invasive plant. It spreads underground and shoots pop up in places you don't want in the spring.
I have a clump in my front garden in a "problem" corner - thin strip of stony soil that doesn't get as much sun as the rest of the front. This year shoots were coming up in the paving cracks next to it but I just pulled them up. If you plant it in the right place it's not too bad, so easy to grow and I love the mass of yellow flowers.
Just don't give it rich soil in full sun next to your lawn or something and it will reward you year after year. It can be dug up in spring to keep it under control.
Supernoodle, I have this in my garden, it spreads quite rapidly, I tend to keep it in check each spring by removed the outer edges, it seems to work.
A little work is worth it I think.

I have some growing in an inhospitable place semi shade, windy and in heavy clay which is either wet or dried out, serves a purpose and I haven't had much trouble removing any that spreads.
And the dark form, Firecracker is even worse. another 5 years of weed killing and it still comes up.
Firecracker was mentioned on Beechgrove last night. No mention of invasiveness though. So easy to plant a thug!
