What is this tuber?

I was digging out a bed and dug up several of these, they're fleshy and about 4 inches long. I don't recall planting anything like this.Can anyone tell me what they are

Might be a kind of Crocosmia like montbretia, but I would have thought you should have large amounts of foliage by now.
Hard to tell the texture from a photo but it looks like a large seed that has put out a root.
Thanx for replies. It's not crocosmia, I've enough of that! It's a bulb that's put down this hairless bendy fleshy thing
