Feature plant

I would welcome suggestions for a feature plant that will give year long interest. It is for my newly renovated front garden and will go in a very large pot. It will be the focal point as it will be the only thing on display at the front of the house. Would prefer not to have anything with berries as the new slabs are a very light grey and I don't want squashed berries staining them. Anything up to approx 1.5 m tall.

How sunny is the site and is it protected from wind?
Totally exposed. The front of the house faces north, but wind is not too much of a problem as houses in the street offer some protection.
fatsia japonica would fit the bill.
