Acer seeds

I am new to this forum. How do you do?

i have got a beautiful, red, fancy acer, shoulder height.  This year it has got the helicopter rotor type seeds on it.  I would like to have a go at growing them.  When should I pick them?  They are red like the tree itself.

When they're ripe and start falling they'll be ready, sow them straight away and leave then outside to stratify. I use well draining compost and put grit on top.

Don't be tempted to prise them off early, they won't be ready
