Wildlife pond gets some wildlife!

I had a fairly  big pond dug about a year ago and took a decision not to introduce anything.  Its been difficult, but i have stuck to that except for some native flag irises that i had in the garden anyway.  For a year lots of flies, beetles, birds, water boatmen, pond skaters, little beetles.  etc.

TODAY for the first time i have seen

taddys but only 2

blue damselflies

red damselflies

an underwater beetle, but about an inch big!

And.....gosh... A newt!

Its the small things in life i suppose, but i just couldn't be more excited.

It is exciting isn't it image  We've got a new pond and we were so excited when the frogs and newts moved in image

The more wildlife there is in the pond, the longer you can spend watching it. I never get much housework done these days.
