Hi can i prune a lateral branch back now to an inch of the main stem. The lateral is to low down, the only way it can go is up , its starting to overtake the leader. Or will i have to wait for the winter pruning? The grapevine ( blackhamburg ) is in its second year. i want it to grow along the roof of the GH.

I prune mine at any time to keep it tidy but don't know if that is correct or not. We get black grapes every year - ours is outside though and not in a GH.
We prune ours hard IN January and then prune back for aesthetics and grape growth whenever is required. Ours too is outside and we yield about 4-6 kilos of grapes!!
