I have to say I'm not very good at pruning roses, and I think can now safely say I didn't prune them back hard enough last year (partly because it was their first winter in my garden and I thought they shouldn't be pruned too hard the first year).

I've had loads of growth but some of the stems seem very thin and with the amount of buds on them they are falling over.  Is there anything I should be doing in order to produce a sturdier stem ? It has happened on both my Harlow Carrs and Jekyll Hyde (think that is how you spell them) roses.

Any advice ? Thank you.
