butternut squash

Hi everyone, I have a question: does butternut squash bolt? I'm growing one in a bucket and I've kept it in my conservatory. It has 10 pretty big leaves, as big as my palm, but hasn't begun to creep yet, so I haven't staked it. However, yesterday I've noticed 4 or 5 buds at the base of the plant. Is that normal? Or is it bad (by that I mean that are the flowers just going to drop off without producing fruit)? Thanks in advance image

It's quite normal and they'll probably be male flowers anyway.  Some of mine are doing the same.  I generally find the fruits start setting on those female flowers which appear about a metre away from the main stem.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
