sweetcorn plugs

Hi all,

I've got 8 sweetcorn plugs about 18" tall and only a very small space to put them in. It's about 3ft square. Is this too small a space?

I've never tried sweetcorn before and have heard it's difficult to grow so any help at all on this subject would be greatly appreciatedimage

Thank you.

Just enough.  Plant in a block.  45cm apart each way.

As Welshonion says plant in a block and also keep them well watered.  A bit of blood fish and bone in the soil to help them grow and pray for a warm summer and all will be well.

  • Thank you for the prompt replies guys. I'll start praying now!!image

If you plant them slightly deeper than they are in their pots they will grow roots from the stems which will make stronger sturdier plants

  • Oww, thanks for that Fleurisa, I didn't know that. I love this siteimage

  • Hi Guys. Ideally how tall should the plants be before they are planted out? I have grown some from seed, and they are only about 3" tall-is it too early to put them out yet?

Yes, give them a bit longer Linda and plant out when 5-6 inches tall.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • Cheers Bob, thank you!
