Absolutely enormous slug

I saw a slug on the pavement a couple of doors down from my house today that was so big that when I put it in my hand, it reached from where the palm joins the wrist, right up to the middle of my fingers.  It was the diameter of a banana!  I have never seen anything like it.  I am guessing that this is the dreaded Spanish Slug that I have read about that has invaded the UK and is wreaking havoc throughout the country - I can certainly see why!  God only knows how us organic gardeners are going to deal with these monsters...

I'm always picking them up - putting them in the green bin or in the hedgehog bowls.  But this one was a bit too big even for me!  I was so tempted to tread on it, but I couldn't bring myself too so I just examined it and put it back down again ...

That's about it sotongeoff!  Apart from this one had a yellow tummy. Little buggers!  I hope I don't regret my kindness in not squashing him when I inevitably see him in my garden soon...  I am in Bourne in Lincolnshire Jill - I will try to find where to update it.

We have huge bright orange slugs, some bigger than that in Dordogne. In the Pyrenees there were huge black  and dark grey slugs 6" long. But it's the common little grey ones that do all the damage to hostas and in the veg garden.
