new lawn

hi

l have two small square neglected lawns l have dug them up and turned the turf 

l intend to level out with 4" of new topsoil and lay a new lawn my question is can l scatter daffodil bulbs or seeds and or  snowdrops to get a bit of colour in the start of the year and have just a lawn for the remainder ?

any tips or suggestions most welcome as l am a gardening novice
