Hello Forum - can anyone tell me what this is? My friend was given it in a pot and it looks like a tree of some sort. Its never flowered. Thanks in advance
I may be wrong (and often am) but it looks very much like beech. Someone will be along soon to tell you if it is.
Bumping
Looks quite beech-y to me too Lesley but if we're wrong I'm sure someone will be along to give the right ID!
I don't know what it is but I know a lot of things it isn't.
It's not beech.
A few more pics might help, the trunk, and a closer view of a branch please
Ah well - wrong again. On reflection it would be a little strange to be given a beech tree in a pot as a gift.
I want some more pics, I'm thinking it might be one of the willows, caprea maybe, though the leave look a bit thin.
Could be. I have a suspicion this is something not too desirable but I'll be pleased if I'm wrong
It looks to me that it is something the birds have planted - probably a wild cherry...not worth keeping me thinks.
Thanks all. I've told my friend to give it the heave ho and plant a nice flowering shrub instead!
