Slugs

The slugs are coming up the tree across a metal bar then down to the bird feeder 4 or 5 each night why do they like the wild bird seed? Can put salt down but thats not nice .

slugs will eat  anything that's not moving( and also rats and mice will eat the seed too!)!The slugs also will shelter here in winter and its a good time to pick them off and dispose of with out to much effort  .
